Moore: Gibbs and Collins family reunion in Carthage honors Cathi C. Patterson

The only surviving Collins girl, Cathi C. Patterson, 64, of Carthage, North Carolina, enjoyed an honorary family reunion June 28, 2025 at the Carthage Town Hall. Over 100 family members joined the celebration.

Patterson worked at Pinecrest High School and retired two years ago in Feb.

“I am living free with no time for work. I’m enjoying life,” Patterson said.

She is the mother of two and grandmother of three boys. She has been married for fifty years to Michael Patterson.

Patterson is the seventh sibling out of ten.

Her brother Bobby Collins is a basketball coach for Shaw University.

Brother Barry Collins and his wife, Pam, are in Hoffman, North Carolina, and he works in maintenance at a nursing home.

Wendell Gibbs and his wife Amber live in Exmore, Virginia, and he is a self-employed mechanic.

Patterson’s eldest brother, Samuel Gibbs, is a retired soldier enjoying life in Florida.
