| The City of Sanford is accepting sealed bids for the construction of Walter McNeil Jr. Park until Thursday, Dec. 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. Pursuant to North Carolina General Statutes Section 143-129, sealed bids will be received by the City of Sanford, North Carolina, until Thursday, December 17, at 10 a.m. and then publicly opened and read aloud for the construction of Walter McNeil Jr. Park. Bids received after this time will be returned unopened. The bid opening will be held in the West End Conference Room of the Sanford Municipal Center, located at 225 E. Weatherspoon Street in Sanford, North Carolina. Bid Description Bids shall be for park renovation to provide amenities that appeal to a wide range of ages and recreational preferences. Enhancements will include an improved parking facility, a walking trail, a picnic shelter, a horseshoe pitch, and an upgraded, accessible playground with modern surfacing. Qualifications Each bidder shall be appropriately licensed in the State of North Carolina as required by General Statutes Chapter 87 and have the ability to produce evidence of experience in construction of projects of similar size and nature. Bidders must be able to comply with all local, state, and federal contract provisions as specified in the contract documents. Contract Documents The Contract Documents are available for examination via Sharefile by sending an email to Jess Phair at The John R. McAdams Company, Inc. Hardcopies of the plans and specifications will be made available for review and inspection only at The John R. McAdams Company, Inc., located at 4819 Emperor Boulevard, Suite 100, Durham, North Carolina, for the duration of the bid period. Questions or clarifications on the bid package will be received up to 5 p.m. on December 10, 2026. Pre-Bid Meeting A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Monday, November 16, 2026 at 2 p.m. The meeting location will be the West End Conference Room of the Sanford Municipal Center, located at 225 E. Weatherspoon Street in Sanford, North Carolina. Interested parties are encouraged to attend to review plans and ask for additional information or clarification. Additional Information This project may be funded in whole or in part with federal or local assistance funds. Bidders must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and executive orders, including anti-discrimination provisions, equal opportunity employment, and civil rights requirements.
