Harnett County Commissioners approved several quality-of-life projects at the Feb. 16 meeting. They advanced daycare access for seniors, approved a park plan, and grants for the Harnett Regional Jetport.
During presentations, Laka King from Fayetteville requested help to assist Harnett County with an all-inclusive daycare program for senior citizens. It is funded with Medicare and Medicaid, offers transportation to and from homes to doctor appointments and to facilities.
County Manager Brent Trout asked who serves the area PACE does not reach.

Trout said the Department of Social Services will work with PACE to reach the underserved in Harnett County.
The board approved the Concept A Northwest Harnett Park Master Plan. The 28-acre parcel is off Oak Ridge River Road was purchased in 2018. The structures on the site will be relocated. The solid waste facility is under construction now.
The department recommended Concept A at about $8.5 million in three phases.

Concept A has two entrances, a shelter, a traditional playground with shade areas, a bike park with skill checks and pickleball courts.
Without explanation, the board tabled a decision on amending the library bylaws for using social media and the government website as the main advertising platforms after they said the expensive newspaper ads did not generate responses. The amendment would allow them to use the newspaper ads as an option, not a requirement.
Commissioners approved a request to apply for the Golden Leaf Open Grant for the Harnett Regional Jetport’s corporate area development.
The commissioners approved the $10,700 bathroom demolition bid from Southeastern Interiors. The office and bathrooms in the Harnett Regional Jetport hangar has mold and water damage.

Commissioners approved converting a part-time to full-time job for a Workforce Development Eligibility Specialist position, which the county manager recommended, to become active in April.
Commissioners honored Veteran hero Larry C. Coleman.
