Harnett County budget advances as library funding and social services staffing face scrutiny
June 5, 2026

The Moore County Board of Elections Director, Towanna Dixon, supplied a notice Feb. 14.
This information is for all 100 counties.
“As an election official, these types of posts are misleading and cause voter confusion. Provisional ballots do not give out receipts but a pin number with instructions for the voter to call after canvass to check on the status of their provisional ballot.
If a voter is trying to vote and belongs to another county, they will be sent to their county to vote.
If they are adamant about it, then we will issue a provisional.
If a person is a new voter in the county, they must bring with them a picture id and a HAVA document to show residency in the county.
If they do not have this information, then they can leave and come back or do a provisional, then cure it before the day of the cavass meeting.
There are many reasons why a voter may get turned away and the poll workers have been trained to handle these situations.
Before posts like these go out, it should be verified and if a voter has had an issue, please call the BOE office so that we can correct the situation.”
