Discussions about Jonesboro’s revitalization at the March 30 Sanford Council’s retreat coincided with social media talk of a Kendale Shopping Center storage building project.
The City of Sanford’s Zoning Administrator, Thomas Mierisch explained the self-storage project at the Kendale Shopping Center was submitted in Oct. 2025 as a concept plan, which is “not sufficient for moving forward to apply for building permits. They have pulled a demolition permit for the site.”

Property owner, Justin Davies will need to expand on the concept plan with “a civil engineer or licensed design professional..If/when that’s submitted and reviewed/approved, then they could submit for zoning and building permits and actually start to build their project,” Mierisch explained.
In phone calls yesterday, the project applicant, Bryan Welborn, said to contact the architect Barry Icard, and he said to contact the owner, Justin Davies with Azalea Limited Partnership in Concord. Davies has not yet replied to messages, but if he does, the article will be updated.
