Lee County seeks public input on regional hazard mitigation plan

Lee County is working alongside community partners to update the Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan and calls on the public to help shape the County’s disaster preparedness efforts. 

This critical plan identifies and assesses the County’s risk for natural disasters and outlines strategies to reduce or manage those risks.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the Hazard Mitigation Plan Survey to share their insights and help shape the county’s disaster preparedness efforts. The survey is open through September 30, 2025 and available online at

Additionally, residents are invited to attend a public meeting on September 24, 2025 where Emergency Management staff will be available to explain the planning process, answer questions, and discuss potential natural hazard risks in Lee County. Join staff from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Ernest and Ruby McSwain Extension Education and Agriculture Center, located at 2420 Tramway Road, Sanford.
