Moore Gov. closes at noon March 16
March 16, 2026

Moore County Schools are closed for students.
Lee County Schools are closed for students.
Harnett County Schools planned a remote learning day for students and staff.
Due to the severe weather predicted for our area tomorrow, Moore County Schools will be closed for students on Monday, March 16. Employees will have an optional workday and may report to work if they deem it safe to do so, telework if eligible, or follow the district’s Inclement Weather Plan. Please contact your supervisor if you have any questions.
Based on the projected timing and severity of the storm, a traditional early release schedule is not feasible. Since our elementary and high schools share bus routes, it would make it impossible to safely transport all students home before the most severe weather is expected to arrive.
The safety of our students and employees is always our top priority. Closing schools for students allows families and staff to make safe plans ahead of the storm.
There will be no activities on Moore County Schools campuses on Monday, March 16.
A decision regarding the operation of schools on Tuesday, March 17 will be made tomorrow evening once we are able to properly assess any impacts or damage caused by the storm.
We encourage everyone to continue monitoring local weather updates and to use caution during severe weather conditions.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students and employees.
