Harnett County Tax Department invites property owners to tax reappraisal and appeal events

The Harnett County Tax Department is inviting property owners to join an upcoming Property Tax Reappraisal Assistance and Appeal Filing Event on April 23 and May 4.
These events are intended to offer residents one-on-one assistance reviewing their property value, receive step-by-step help filing an appeal, and to answers questions that residents may have.
The Tax Department will guide property owners through these processes. If residents are unsure about their new assessed value or ready to file an appeal, the Tax Department can help.
Thursday, April 23 from 5-7 p.m.
Location: Harnett County Resource Center and Library, 455 McKinney Pkwy., Lillington, NC Room 103 B/C
Monday, May 4 from 5-7 p.m.

“The county is hosting this event to make the property appeals process more accessible, transparent, and less intimidating for our citizens. We understand that property assessments can raise questions or concerns, and this event provides an opportunity for residents to receive one-on-one guidance, ensure their information is accurate, and better understand the appeal process,” said Christine Wallace, Harnett County Tax Administrator.
Property owners will need to bring supporting documents that include:
Photos of interior and exterior property
Comparable sales of similar properties that have sold between 2024-2025
A recent fee appraisal completed in connection with a recent purchase or refinance
Professional estimates of structural damage or repairs needed
This event is free and appointments are not required. Please remember, all property appeals are due by May 8, 2026, at 5 p.m.
