Moore County reviews Glendon campground and school district’s new IT site plans
November 7, 2026

All visitors to Chimney Rock State Park, including annual passholders, must now make a reservation online before arriving. This change helps the park manage capacity while the area continues to recover.
Reservations are available in one-hour time slots. Guests should plan to arrive during their reserved time and have their tickets ready to be scanned at the ticket plaza. After checking in, you can stay and explore the park until it closes at 7 p.m.
At first, the number of reservations will depend on available parking. The Park hopes to add more spots soon, so check back often for updates. Currently, reservations require online payment; a cash option is in development.
The park has an elevator for a lift to the top.
You can enter the park using a temporary bridge built by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. It is next to the Harley-Davidson building in Chimney Rock Village. Signs guide visitors to the entrance and up to the ticket plaza.

I love the mountains!
Annual passholders affected by the closure will have their passes extended to make up for lost time, plus a little extra. These extensions started on June 27.
Visit the park’s website to make a reservation or get more details.
