Harnett County invites local veterans and their families to a special veterans resource event

Harnett County is partnering with Congressman Brad Knott’s Office and the Department of Veterans Affairs to expand access to essential services and resources for veterans and their families.

Active-duty, veterans, and their families are invited to a free Veterans Claims and Resource Event on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm, at the Harnett County Resource Center and Library, located at 455 McKinney Parkway, Lillington, NC.  

“Supporting the brave men and women who served and sacrificed on our behalf is a top priority for me in Congress. I am proud to work with Harnett County to support veterans, remove barriers to care, and streamline access to benefits,” Congressman Brad Knott said.

In addition to this event, Congressman Knott created a Veteran Services portal to make it easier for NC-13 veterans to access benefits and get in touch with county resources year-round. The portal can be found on Rep. Knott’s official website.

This one-day event aims to connect attendees with services, resources, and support. Highlights of the event will include:

• On-site claims assistance with Veterans Service Officers and Veterans Affairs
• Informative breakout sessions
• Vendors that focus on Veteran resources
• And more.

“Our veteran population continues to grow in Harnett County,” said Amy Noel, Assistant Director of Harnett County Veterans Services. “This event will allow us to connect veterans and their families with the support they need and benefits that they’ve earned through their service.”

The Veterans Claims and Resource Event is a simultaneous, drop-in style event. Attendees are welcome to stop by at any time during the event hours that best fits their schedule.

“We encourage all Veterans and their families to come out and learn more about VA benefits and to apply for the benefits you’ve earned,” said Acting Director Craleta Robinson, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
