The City of Sanford recognizes April 9 as Local News Day. Sandhills News editor Stephanie Sellers shares a copy of the proclamation on April 7, 2026.

The City of Sanford proclaimed April 9 as Local News Day at its April 7 meeting.

The city recognized local news as the most trusted news source.

To share in this recognition, the public is invited to a News Cafe on April 9 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Ruby McSwain Agricultural Center in Sanford.

Meet the previous editor of The Sanford Herald and the new editor. Mingle with The Rant editor and staff,  chat with WFJA radio host Margaret Murchinson, and meet the editor of Sandhills News.

Local media wants to know what readers need and what features they would enjoy. Bring your ideas and a hankering for complimentary Starbucks coffee and treats.
