October 26, 2026

Lee County Parks & Recreation invites the community to lace up and join the inaugural “Together We Trot” 5K and 1‑Mile Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, at the Lee County Athletic Park.
Registration is open at leecountync.gov/MyRecPortal and fees are $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1‑Mile Fun Run at the Lee County Athletic Park, located at 210 Champion Road, Sanford, NC. Participants who register by October 29 are guaranteed to receive an event tee shirt.
Designed as a family-friendly celebration of movement and community, the event is open to ages 3 and older. Children younger than 3 may participate at no charge and are welcome in strollers. The course features a mix of terrain including fields, a nature trail, sidewalks, and roadways. The course is not certified, and the event will not be officially timed, making it a relaxed, welcoming experience for all.
To support local families during the holiday season, Parks & Recreation will host a canned food drive benefiting the CUOC of Lee County. Participants and spectators are encouraged to bring unopened, unexpired canned or shelf‑stable boxed foods with them on race day. Donations may also be dropped off at the Lee County Athletic Park office from Monday, November 9 through the event on Nov. 14.
“We’re excited to bring the community together for a morning that celebrates health, connection, and support for our neighbors,” said Cindy Castle, Lee County Parks & Recreation Parks Operations Supervisor. “‘Together We Trot’ is all about enjoying the day however you choose — whether you take it at a sprint, a stroll, or something in between.”
For questions about the event or sponsorship opportunities, please contact Cindy Castle at 919‑775‑2107 ext. 4207 or ccastle@leecountync.gov, and visit leecountync.gov/MyRecPortal for registration details and additional information.
